Would you please take a few minutes to let us know what you liked best about Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback provided very quick results. About midway through my 30 sessions, I noticed changes in my thinking, emotions, and general self.

What problems you were facing before neurofeedback? I was experiencing a great deal of anxiety and depression.

I would have panic attacks and didn’t feel comfortable in public. I had a difficult time starting any projects and couldn’t fathom finishing anything. I was treading water in regards to being a mother and wife .

What you did to solve those problems before neurofeedback?

I was on an antidepressant daily and a medication for anxiety as needed. The problem was that as needed was becoming a daily need. I was also having weekly counseling sessions with Dr. Whitely.

Results you are seeing after having neurofeedback.

I am thinking logically again and I am able to function without anxiety. It’s like neurofeedback cleaned the cobwebs out of my mind and put things in order. Counseling sessions with Dr. Whitely then became work sessions on how to set goals and projects instead of just talking about how I was going to get through the day or week.

What was the process of working with me and my staff like?

Scheduling was easy and my appointments started and ended on time.

How do you feel about the end result?

I am very pleased with my results. Even my skeptical husband has been impressed and is so happy that my mind and emotions are functioning properly again.

I am a 63-year-old female diagnosed with bipolar disease.

A little over two years ago, I suffered a tragic event which spun me into a depressive episode spiraling out of control.

My marriage was falling apart and I was desperate to salvage what had previously been a loving and strong relationship.

My husband and I sought counseling, and with hard work and dedication the process was repairing and improving our relationship.

However, I could not stop obsessing over the events that had occurred in the past. My thoughts were totally out of control. Every day was a constant, painful struggle to overcome these memories and my obsession with them. Although I tried prescribed medication and relaxation techniques, it was to no avail.

After discussing this in depth with my psychologist, she suggested neuro feedback therapy. Although I did not completely understand this type of therapy, I was desperate for a solution.

My husband and I talked about it at length. We came to the conclusion that the cost involved was well worth the attempt for a solution.

In the next few weeks I received 35 intensive sessions which my doctor jokingly described as “boot camp for the brain”.

As the sessions progressed I experienced a gradual daily relief and I was very happy with the results by the time my treatments ended.

My obsessive thoughts abated, I was again able to follow a complete conversation with out my mind sidetracking, and the articulation of my vocabulary return to normal.

As the weeks progressed imagine my joy when I discovered I could stop the thoughts almost as quickly as they came to mind. I could go days at a time without even a single thought of what had plagued me for over a year and a half. As a side benefit, I was even able to decrease my bipolar medication significantly.

I would highly recommend neurofeedback to anyone seeking relief from a mental dysfunction or just wishing to improve their brain functions. It has made a huge difference in my life, and I must say my mental health and my relationship with my husband are better than I could have ever imagined.

My insurance company covered some, but not all of the cost involved. Hopefully with the continued success of the neuro-feedback procedure, the medical community and the insurance company will realize and support the benefits of these treatments.

I was born into a loving, but dysfunctional family. My father was a workaholic and strong disciplinarian. My Mother was a hypochondriac and manipulative person. I’ve have been told by health care perfectionist that I have an inherited type of clinic depression. I have taken antidepressants and mood enhancers for the last 25 years (and needed them years before). Over the time I developed reactions to the medications and /or the medications quit working for me.

A few months ago I was at the point where I felt like the medication I was on was not working for me, plus I was starting to have daily mild headaches. My sleep had become restless along with my daily life, and I was gaining weight from the strong sugar cravings. Then I heard about Neurofeedback, so I did the research on the internet, read the book “Neurofeedback Transforming Your Life” by Dr. Clara Albright, and talked with my personal psychiatrist about seeing a psychologist for neurofeedback.

I met with Dr. Ruth Whitely in July 2013.She listen with a caring heart and also explained to me in more detail about Neurofeedback and how it works. The best thing about neurofeedback is that it’s noninvasive. After just 4 weeks of treatment, I started noticing how much calmer I felt and how much better I was sleeping at night. After talking with my psychiatrist we started the winging off process of my antidepressant medication

Now upon completion of the neurofeedback routine (30 sessions in my case), I’m no longer craving sugar and have lost weight. I remain calm (even when tested by family drama), sleeping all night. The best part of all. . . I’m off my antidepressant medication no longer having headaches, One unexpected bonus is that I’m more focused on the tasks at hand.

Thank you to Dr. Ruth Whitely
